Deputy Heads Up

One day course for new or aspiring assistant heads and deputy heads. A course for teachers who are thinking about taking the next step to a bigger leadership role.

Do you want to develop and retain your strongest teachers and enable them to fulfil their leadership potential?

This course is for schools who are interested in recognising potential for leadership within their own schools and growing their own assistant and deputy heads.

Aims of the course

  • Understand what the role of Assistant or Deputy Head entails in today's schools

  • Recognise the important qualities needed to be an inspirational senior leader

  • Appreciate how ready they are to fulfil the role of Assistant or Deputy Head

  • To know what their strengths are and identify areas of further development

The course focuses on the operational and strategic aspects of the roles, the importance of high quality relationships and communication and how that is reflected in Ofsted's definition of outstanding leadership.

Chris is an independent consultant for Primary Schools. For the last three years, her focus has been working alongside new heads, senior leadership teams and middle leaders, on school improvement.
